Lack of Jobs

ACROSS THE COUNTRY - 593 students jobless

after full allocation- roughly 100 unemployed!

"I anticipate therefore that following the results of finals, there will be enough places to accommodate all suitable applicants." - so you're hoping enough of us fail!

(don't we love MDAP / Newdoctor assumptions)

Somebody either needs to re-do their Maths A-level or somebody needs to start telling the truth...

Hmmm yes there are apparently 53 jobs left in Thames foundation school, 7 of which are in London.
And 250 London students unplaced.

Congratulations on setting up this blog.
I don't know if you have a job or not but can tell you that different deaneries have different cut off points for their students.
Manchester is I think 20.
The form you filled in has to be the worst selection process ever devised. Soft questions, soft marking; its like two differnet couples chosing wallpaper, a value judgement based on no known axioms.
The marking system gave equal value to achievement and reflection.
So
achievement
chosen to go on the space shuttle
marked excellent
points 2
reflection
fantastic experience
Poor
Marks none
achievement
Helped mother when she had her hysterectomy
Good
Marks 1
Reflexion
Realised the difficulty for carers looking after relatives without support.
Learned the value of interacting with social and medicalservices
Excellent
Marks 2

I have heard that some forms gave personal reasons for chosing places such as their fiancee being there when they did not even have a partner.
So much for five or six years of endeavour,
achievement and debt.

Next year the forms will all be filled in professionally and it will be truely impossible to separate candidates.

And finally why is the BMA not coordinating a legal challenge on behalf of all UK Students to this lottery.

The whole system is a big experiment and it has blown up in the face of MDAP.

They are now being obstructive failing to answer genuine concerns about the system and not releasing our marks and scoring sheets.

If they are talking to lawyers so should we.

In fact shouldn't the UK press know that a system set up with money from the DOH has resulted in a very large number of medical students without jobs.

Recent press release from West Midlands deanery: Read and laugh

Another four deaneries - London, North Western, Northern Ireland and Kent, Sussex and Surrey - are using the West Midlands Deanery's online recruitment tool for Foundation Programme year one trainees this year.

This means that half of the deaneries in the UK are now using the multi-deanery appointment process (MDAP).

Bob Palmer, Project Director, said: "This year MDAP will cover more than 3,000 of the 4,500 UK posts. The tool has been such a success that we have been given a new grant by the Department of Health to introduce MDAP to other deaneries. We hope that by this time next year all deaneries will be using the system.

"MDAP provides a uniform way of recruiting trainees which makes the process much fairer. In collaboration with every deanery in the country we have developed and implemented a national application form and scoring system. This is a huge step towards agreeing a national recruitment scheme."

The West Midlands Deanery will be using MDAP to co-ordinate the clearing process for all UK deaneries.

THIS IS SUCH A JOKE-

SHOULDN'T WE LET DOH KNOW THAT THEY HAVE CREATED A MONSTER AND FUNDED AN UNVALIDATED PROJECT.

THIS IS A CLEAR WASTE OF TAXPAYERS MONEY.

How can they call it

'a much fairer' process

We should ask DOH how much this has cost our right under Freedom of Info act
